Meditation

Meditation is a safe and simple way to help you move towards balance and harmony. It is a practice that is as old as mankind and can be used to aid in the healing process and promotes deep relaxation.

When in meditation, the mind is in a state of restful alertness whilst the body becomes more relaxed, allowing for a natural healing and harmonizing to take place. The benefits of meditation can be found on three levels: physical, psychological and spiritual. 

Physical benefits: It has been shown that the regular use of meditation can strengthen your immune system, making it better able to resist infections. Physiological problems that are stress related or influenced by stress are also be helped.

Psychological benefits: Meditation can help most people feel more relaxed and better able to cope with life's events. It can promote a more aware attitude, leading to a recognition of the choices you have in life.

Indian Head Massage

Indian Head Massage can be either rejuvenating and energizing, or deeply relaxing and tension relieving. It involves massage of the upper back, shoulders, neck, scalp and face. As the massage works on the shoulders and neck, you will feel the relief of tension instantaneously. As well as easing headaches and stress, many conditions can be helped with Indian Head Massage.

Indian Head Massage aids your localised blood and lymphatic circulation, relieves eyestrain, boosts your immune system, relieves muscle tension, and helps restore joint movement. Holistic / Swedish Massage

 Holistic simply means 'whole'  so this form of massage deals with you as a 'whole' so not just looking to treat the symptoms, but to establish the cause, whether it be internal or external.  The aim is to rebalance your body so it achieves homeostasis or balance.

At your first consultation  you will be asked to complete a detailed health questionnaire which will take about 30 to 40 minutes as it goes over every aspect of your health, family history and lifestyle, what goes in your body, and yes, also what comes out the other end! I keep a note of each treatment, which for you means that after a few visits you can come in, 'flop' down on the couch and I know just what you need.

 It is rare that we take an hour to lie down, close our eyes and just 'be'. An hour's peace and quiet away from ringing phones and demanding children has a definite restorative effect. For the body, the massage helps taut muscles learn to relax and aids lymphatic drainage, helping to release toxins. The benefits can be felt by all ages, from all walks of life. The Massage Association research has verified that office workers massaged regularly were more alert, performed better and were less stressed than those who weren't massaged. It is not just office workers who benefit, everyone can. Stress affects different people in different ways, physically and emotionally and holistic massage can help you to deal with both.   Massage will stimulate blood flow and help the release of those feel-good endorphins that make us feel smiley inside.

There are a number of reasons that  massage may not be suitable or appropriate for you, for example if you are ill or have a fever. People with some conditions such as cancer may be treated only with consent from their GP. This is why the consultation prior to receiving a massage is so important.

At the end of the session I will be able to give you advice about what you can do in between treatments to maintain or improve your body's equilibrium.

You don't need a medical reason to enjoy massage, a regular massage will keep the body tuned. People groom themselves daily, looking after their external appearance, massage is like grooming for the inside, and if the inside is in good shape, it will shine through the outside too!
